Watchman, tell us of the night

Watchman, tell us of the night
Words: John Bowring, 1825
Tune: Aberystwyth

Watchman, tell us of the night,
What its signs of promise are.
Traveler, o'er yon mountain's height,
See that glory-beaming star.
Watchman, does its beauteous ray
Aught of joy or hope foretell?
Traveler, yes; it brings the day,
Promised day of Israel.

Watchman, tell us of the night;
Higher yet that star ascends.
Traveler, blessedness and light,
Peace and truth its course portends.
Watchman, will its beams alone
Gild the spot that gave them birth?
Traveler, ages are its own;
See, it bursts o'er all the earth.

Watchman, tell us of the night,
For the morning seems to dawn.
Traveler, darkness takes its flight,
Doubt and terror are withdrawn.
Watchman, let thy wanderings cease;
Hie thee to thy quiet home.
Traveler, lo! The Prince of Peace,
Lo! The Son of God is come!

God is faithful

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when His glory is revealed.

That you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him [or her], and s/he in God.

Whoever keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in them.

Alleluia!
