The Painter's heart in a Florida twilight sky

On the way to dinner Sunday night, I saw the sky painted in pink and pastel reds -- glorious. Another evening of artistry for our Creator; His palette is mind and His canvas is the sky, yea, even to the vast inner-sky of the human heart. And beauty flows from joining Him, in his loving intent. From His palette to our canvas, reflected well for all to see, heart dance, life-song, joy and beauty and purpose: A city on a hill, a light not under a bushel basket. Alleluia!

A roost at twilight

A great picture from last night, under the beautiful canopy of Florida winter sky: a flock of birds roosting, in high-vaulted cathedral -- painted with prime colors from God's palette! Enjoy!

Pennsylvania winter field: muted beauty

There's a lot going on in this picture -- it is very subtle in its beauty: the texture of the corn stubble contrasting the texture of the fallow and plowed fields beyond, the gentle shades of slanting foreground shadows augmenting the contour of the further fields, the texture and color of the winter hardwood trees leading the eyes to the distant evergreens, hills and colors leading to the pines, which then only lift to vaulted skies: blue, and lilting clouds of white. The beauty is intense once it is grasped for what it is... and yet, this scene is so easily passed by! A wonder, and lesson... enjoy! :-)

A pink Florida sky

This is from a week ago today -- the real thing was even more breathtaking than this pic... sky to sky color and view! Enjoy!

A walkway to the sky

Here's a view overlooking dry Lake Okeechobee, wooden walkway pointed upward, birds freewheeling with tinted clouds... enjoy!

November lights

How does the Divine Artist paint? What brush does He use, and what palette? And how does He turn the seasons into a symphony of praise -- grass, leaves and sky, meeting of light and shadow, dark blue and purple, rusty orange, pink and red? Starlight, moonlight, human lights... all are called to praise in such a time as this, all masterfully brushed on the canvas by the Author of all true art! Enjoy!

An August glimpse of God's handwriting

The colors of the sky were in pastel tonight, and the twilight clouds painted mystic signs on the pale blue canvas... hopeful portent here unfurled above flowering field and darkening trees: awesome, August beauty!

A study of corn and converging lines

As I returned from dinner this evening, I just had to photograph the light and lines on this field... the blue tint of the sky enriches the lines of corn, and, in turn, the lines of corn accent other lines which blend into the distance: trees, grain, and poles. Enjoy! :-)

Rain kissed grass in the gloaming

The artistry of nature is remarkable to me... how light and water and sun can turn almost any scene into a masterpiece of wonder -- for that one moment in time! Here, the last rays of evening light catch the lingering rain on grass, crowning each stalk of grass with priceless, studded diamonds! Click to enlarge the pic, and enjoy the show! :-)

Tinted fields and sky in June gloaming

Since my last gloaming pic was so appreciated, here's another one from that same moment, that beautiful display of evening light after storms. Photo moments like this are rare! Enjoy!

June glory and majesty

Here is tonight's light on a hill -- surreal color in the gloaming, lightning in the air. As I snapped this, storms moved in from my right and directly behind me, carrying rain and streaks of lightning... but this light on the hill was so singular that I just had to photograph it. It is a kind of 'suspended light' -- light conveying a sense of waiting, only for a few minutes, then gone in the darkening storm. I made it back inside my truck just in time for a nice bolt of lightning to hit nearby, and had to smile and say, "Thank you!" :-)

A divine palette

A painted May sky -- depth and range of color: deep blue, lighter blue, faint white and layered pink! The divine Painter's palette is textured indeed! :-)

A beauty in stormy sky and troubled water

A thunderstorm rolled in and this is the prelude to the rain... I tried to stay and capture a frame of lightning, but needless to say, it wasn't the safest place to photograph lightning! :-) Some sacrifices have to be made for the blog, but getting stuck in lightning just isn't one, lol. The thing I like about this pic is its captured suspense: sky, air, water, muted lighting... all convey suspense, a kind of beauty in unfolding storm!

A twilight relief of shadow and light

This is one of my favorite pics yet, highlighting the stark beauty of subtle shadows at twilight. Look at the grass in the foreground: lit and shaded at the same time, every stalk in artistry... then the soft shadows across the contoured swales, converging lines leading to distance and clouds -- each in its own relief of shadow and light and color!

This really is a natural cathedral -- all elements in beauty, foreground to vaulted sky, a heavenward pull: the upward drawing and soaring effect that many human cathedrals try to imitate, with varying success...

If you want to view the a larger pic, just click to enlarge! Enjoy!

Easter green in gathering snow

Here is a picturesque patch of field that remains green during a sudden Easter snow. The rest of the scenery is covered in a couple inches of snow [and falling], and yet this field remains green! It only adds to the scene... :-) p.s. can anyone guess why the mystery field remains green? :-)

A spring vista

Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Jesus Christ

In nature all is obedience -- unconditional obedience.

Another scene from a glorious walk

This heavenly beauty demands to be shared, so enjoy! Here again, the scene is almost Narnian! :-)

A scene from a glorious walk

I often leave my camera when I'm on a nature walk, simply because a camera can sometimes steal the glory of a moment... but on this walk, I'm glad the camera was along, lol. Enjoy!

A straight path in March

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.

Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.

“If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?”

Prov. 3:5, 6; Ps. 62:8; Ps. 32:8-10; Isa. 30:21; Ex. 33:15-16

Winter unfrozen and free to run away now

And he lifts up his arms in a blessing for being born again
And the streams are all swollen with winter
Winter unfrozen and free to run away now
And I'm amazed when I remember
Who it was that built this house
And with the rocks I cry out...

Be praised for all Your tenderness by these works of Your hands --
Suns that rise and rains that fall to bless and bring to life Your land,
Look down upon this winter wheat and be glad that You have made
Blue for the sky and the color green...
