Savior of the nations, come

Have you ever noticed how even the colors of the season hint at advent? As one poet said, "All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres..." So it is, the sky, the land, the air, all hint of Maker's care, and visitation: nature evokes praise, and highest prayer!

Savior of the nations, come

Words: Ambrose of Milan, ca. 397
Tune: Nun komm der Heiden Heiland

Savior of the nations, come;
virgin's Son, here make thy home!
Marvel now, O heaven and earth,
that the Lord chose such a birth.

Not by human flesh and blood;
by the Spirit of our God
was the Word of God made flesh,
woman's offspring, pure and fresh.

Wondrous birth! O wondrous child
of the Virgin undefiled!
Though by all the world disowned,
still to be in heaven enthroned.

From the Father forth He came
and returneth to the same,
captive leading death and hell
high the song of triumph swell!

Thou, the Father's only Son,
hast over sin the victory won.
boundless shall thy kingdom be;
when shall we its glories see?

Brightly doth thy manger shine,
glorious is its light divine.
Let not sin overcloud this light;
ever be our faith thus bright.

Praise to God the Father sing,
praise to God the Son, our King,
praise to God the Spirit be
ever and eternally!

Loy,

I just happened on your blog this morning as I was googling for one of Kierkegaard's quotes on how Christ is to be followed, not admired and I was directed to your March 7 post (http://loymershimer.blogspot.com/2005/03/kierkegaard-not-to-admire-but-to.html). It was just what I was looking for.

But I was browsing your blog. Simply put, it is beautiful. I can't seem to post to my blog (www.GodandGump.com - in case you are interested every day. But I will add yours to the list I visit daily.

To your post today, it reminds me of the words from my favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Art"

"O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,

Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed."

Soli Deo Gloria,

Deering

I'll definitely link you, too...

Have a wonderful day and many blessings!

Loy
p.s. "How Great Thou Art" has been one of my favorite hymns since high school -- excellent!
